DOCTOR Q&A

Frequently Asked

Common questions from patients answered by the doctor.

Q1

What matters most to you in practice?

The most important thing in orthodontics is an accurate diagnosis.

Alignment, bite and the scope of treatment differ for every patient, so understanding the current state precisely before starting is essential.

Only with an accurate diagnosis can we make the right plan and keep checking progress against the direction set at the start.

Because orthodontic treatment takes a relatively long time, setting the direction on a sound diagnosis and proceeding step by step according to plan is what matters.

Q2

When do you feel most rewarded in your work?

The greatest reward is when a patient is happy with the result at the end of treatment.

Orthodontics is not a single visit but a course of treatment in which we watch the teeth change over time. From the state we first diagnosed, it takes a long time of gradual change before we see the final result.

When that process ends well and the patient is pleased with the change, I feel the reward of treatment that led to a good outcome.

Q3

What would you say first to someone considering orthodontic treatment?

The roughly two years that orthodontic treatment takes can feel long at first, and some hesitate to start because of it.

But considering the change you will enjoy for many years afterward, two years is not really so long.

Rather than focusing on the treatment period alone, think about the time after it ends. If, after hearing a full explanation of your condition and the treatment direction, you decide treatment is needed, please do not let the duration weigh on you too much.

Q4

What should patients keep in mind for successful orthodontic treatment?

Trust between the orthodontist and the patient is essential.

Because it continues over a period of time, understanding the guidance you receive along the way and following it consistently is necessary.

During a long treatment there are times when change is not immediately felt. Please keep communicating with your orthodontist through those times. Trusting your doctor and following the process helps you reach a good result.
